At the sound of the buzzer of his final basketball game, Corey said good bye to the game that he spent his entire life playing. The owner of numerous shooting records and the Nation’s leader in 3pt shooting accuracy-Corey earned the reputation as one of the best shooters in the country. His experiences with basketball also include winning a National Championship in both High School and College. Corey has given everything to basketball and in return he received much more than records and championships - he learned the pivotal lessons of life.

     Corey shares his extraordinary high school experience that began with his decision to transfer from his home town high school and go outside his comfort zone to Akron where he attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. An unpopular decision back home, Corey became an easy target for cyber bullying on the local sports chat forums. As challenging as the situation was for Corey, he found comfort in his new home in Akron and had an experience that would change his life forever.

    With a consistent work ethic and the belief that what people say on the internet doesn’t “reflect” who he is, Corey enjoyed a successful career at St. Vincent-St. Mary.  Along with NBA superstar LeBron James, Corey and the rest of his St. Vincent-St. Mary teammates made history by winning the State and USAToday National Championship in 2003. Corey's journey came full circle when he was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame in 2012.

While traveling through Columbus, Ohio - Jim Jones sat down at the FunnyBone Comedy Club to watch his nephew, Corey, perform with his improv troupe. The night consisted of two hours of unscripted, unrehearsed, improvised entertainment that contained interactive games and comedic sketches.  It was then where Jim saw Corey's ability to entertain and perform in front of an audience.  

    After passing his audition, Jim presented to Corey the idea of performing at schools and motivating kids.  Corey jumped at the opportunity to learn from one of the best. Another "Basketball Jones" was formed.

  Corey spent the next year traveling with his Uncle learning everything that Jim "Basketball" Jones knew through his 18 years as a motivational speaker.  During the learning process, Corey presented his material in front of audiences of all ages throughout venues of all types.  Through constant critique and evaluation from his Uncle, Corey was able to learn the craft of speaking in front of an audience.
